Shakespeare Osteopathic Services is family-orientated business run in partnership by husband and wife team, David and Niki Cowie.
David Cowie
David qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 1990.
Having spent 13 years in the United Kingdom, David returned with his family in New Zealand, bringing his wife Niki .They have two sons. In 1992 David started SOS in Shakespeare Road, which moved to today's Wellesley Road clinic in 1997.
David loved soccer and rowing when he was growing up. Now he enjoys encouraging children develop in their chosen sport while remaining injury-free.
Niki Cowie Godliman
Niki qualified from the British School of Osteopathy, London, with David, in 1990.
Before that Niki had pursued a scientific career, obtaining a PhD from the University College Cardiff, but realized she was more of a people person. She met kiwi David Cowie while studying Osteopathy. After working for a couple of years in the south of England Niki emigrated to Napier with David to be near his family.
Niki's particular interests are babies, children, osteoarthritis and workplace assessments. She has always found osteopathy interesting and rewarding and sees each individual case as a challenge and especially rewarding if it helps the individual.
Niki specialises in techniques such as cranial osteopathy and structural osteopathy. She continues to further her knowledge and has enjoyed the beneficial effect that osteopathic treatment can give.
Her leisure interests are tramping, walking the dog and still enjoys dancing, movement or exercise in particular pole-fitness.
